Re: N E Plastering Training feedback
I did the full 9 day course at NEPT and would recommend it to anyone wishing to start a new career in plastering or to add to other trades such as tiling.
Before I attended the course I had never attempted any plastering but by the end of the first day I hd achieved a perfect finish on a wall! The course covers all aspects of plastering including boarding out and skimming walls and ceilings, repairs, rendering, dot & dab, artexing, coving, arches and curved ceilings.
Derek is a brilliant instructor and his experience in the trade shows. Darren also shares his extensive knowledge of running the business side of things. This is a vital part of the course as it doesn't matter how good a plasterer you are if you have no idea how to run a business!
Everything that is covered on the course is backed up with pre-typed notes that come in handy even after you finish the course and are actually out working in the real world.

Re: N E Plastering Training feedback
i recently completed the full 9 dayer. first week was excellent. the instructor derek was helpfull and informative. wednesday and thursday were the worst days mind. wednesday i arrived to find 2 average size holes in my nicely smooth and fault free wall. roughly the size of a piece of 2 by 2 timber. let the patching commence. thursday afternoon involved ripping it out. sounds bad but you get to see the depth of plaster and assess you and colleagues work. plus you get to see how many screws were used. get the batteries on charge.
friday involved artex and coving. coving was good. slightly mind numbing with the angles and curvature but the finish was worth it.
the second week was all round fantatsic. the instructor. derek or as his alter ego states (trevor) was involved with a different course, but that meant everything we learnt in the first week was tested. derek was always on hand to assist if needed and yet again the 2 by 2 was at hand on the wednesday evening.
an all round fantastic course from boarding out, skimming, dot and dab, rendering and all thet patch work. i would highly recommend it to anyone. wether it be diy, handyman or self employed. but let it be said dont annoy derek or the 2 by 2 will come out and patching jobs will need to be done.
thank you n e tiling and ill be back for other courses.Last edited by scottie; 28-08-2009 at 11:06 AM.
