Internal Sand/cement on lightweight blocks ?
i have an internal wall of lightweight block that i intend to sand/cement render prior to tiling.
Any advice on what mix/additive to use with regard to the blocks not being too strong.
I believe weaker mixes should be used on lightweight blocks but don't know specifics.
also how will mix strength effect ability of render to hold weight of tiles??
Any informed comment welcome
Neil Davenport.

Give the blocks a good soak with water to ease the suction and then plaster with a 5 sand 1 cement mix.
If you are tiling you may consider hammer fixing tile backer board?

Don't what tiles you maybe considering fixing but on lightweight blocks (thermalites) I would use dry linning..

Hi there.
4 or 5 to 1 will be fine will be able to hold all tiles. Add plasticiser or waterproofer if external wall.
