Default Do i PVA or paiint over newly skimmed walls?

Hi all, i have just had some walls skimmed in my house, i was wondering if i should PVA the finished walls before painting as the plasterer recommended.Or should i water down some matt emulsion.? I have searched Google and there seems to be a mixed opinion, so i though i would ask for some more opinions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi i always recommend watered down paint. I always thought PVA would stop the paint soaking into the walls which would end up pealing off later.

As above, use a mist coat of emulsion, thinned down with water about 50-50

Best found having worked with 62 year old painter is a 50/50 mix paint to water coat one, Coat 2 - 25% water 75% paint having let the first coat dry fully then a top coat(s). Never seen him fail to be honest - When I mentioned PVA 'ing I wore a coat of matt magnolia home after he slapped me over the head with a wall brush :-) - moral of the story dont mention the PVA to an old master
